Celebrate National Senior Citizens Day in Blackstone MA With Magic & Community

National Senior Citizens Day in Blackstone MA: Celebrate Seniors & Community Spirit

Every August 21, the nation pauses to honor older adults and the contributions they make to our communities. National Senior Citizens Day in Blackstone MA is an opportunity not only to celebrate the energy and wisdom of our seniors, but also to recognize the ways they give back—creating opportunities for the entire community to connect, learn, and enjoy life together.

Blackstone’s seniors are at the heart of our town, participating in parades, fundraisers, and community celebrations. Thanks to the Blackstone Council on Aging (COA) and the Friends of the Blackstone Council of Aging, they also create programs and activities that benefit residents of all ages.

Sharing the Celebration: Magic Show for All

This year, National Senior Citizens Day in Blackstone MA brings something extra special—and it’s not just for seniors. On Thursday, August 21 at 1:00 PM, the Blackstone Senior Center is bringing a free, family-friendly magic show to town, featuring Dennis the Magician.

Thanks to the support of the Mass Cultural Council, this event is open to all ages and surrounding towns. With jaw-dropping illusions and laugh-out-loud fun, it’s a celebration designed to unite generations.

This isn’t the Senior Center celebrating behind closed doors—it’s our seniors inviting everyone to join them. By hosting inclusive, town-wide programs, they’re proving once again that they are not only participants in community life but also creators of joy and connection for others.

Friends of the Blackstone COA: Supporting Seniors & the Community

The Friends of the Blackstone Council of Aging are also hard at work, raising funds to support these programs and keep seniors connected. They’ll hold their Calendar Raffle in November, with tickets available at the Blackstone Fall Festival in September, and are currently selling chocolate bars around town.

And this Sunday, August 24, the Senior Center will host a table at the Blackstone Summer Celebration, another chance for residents to meet, connect, and see all the great opportunities available through the COA.
