A Perfect Summer Sunday: Freedom Festival Opens Farmers Market Season at Daniels Farmstead

Daniels Farmstead Freedom Festival Draws Families for a Patriotic Day of History and Community
Sunday’s Freedom Festival at Daniels Farmstead was everything a small-town summer celebration should be—welcoming, educational, family-friendly, and filled with community spirit.
Guests were encouraged to stop by the Daniels Farmstead welcome tent as soon as they arrived, where volunteers greeted visitors with free stickers and handheld fans (available while supplies lasted). The check-in area also featured information about the farmstead’s full lineup of events scheduled throughout July, August, September, and October, giving families plenty of reasons to return in the coming months.
The annual Freedom Festival on July 5, 2026 also served as the official kickoff to the Daniels Farmstead’s weekly Sunday Farmers Market, which takes place every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the season.
Visitors found much more than fresh produce waiting for them. The market featured organic, locally grown fruits and vegetables, homemade baked goods, handcrafted gifts from local artisans, specialty vendors, and plenty of backyard picnic favorites. Food vendors kept everyone well-fed with burgers, hot dogs, grilled classics, baked treats, and plenty of picnic tables where families could relax and enjoy lunch together.

One of the biggest highlights of the day was the outstanding performance from 1PM to 3PM by the Clafflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, whose patriotic concert created the perfect soundtrack for the festival and set the tone for a memorable afternoon. The orchestra’s performance was enjoyed by visitors of all ages and added a special touch to the celebration.
Families filled the grounds throughout the day, creating a lively atmosphere that perfectly captured the charm of a classic New England community gathering. Children laughed as they explored the historic property, while parents browsed local vendors and enjoyed spending time outdoors together.
History also came alive thanks to several costumed interpreters and patriotic characters roaming the grounds. Guests had the opportunity to meet and listen to a Samuel Adams reenactor, who shared stories and historical insights that entertained both children and adults. The Statue of Liberty and Uncle Sam were also on hand throughout the festival, stopping for photos and helping create lasting memories for visitors.
Those looking to step back in time could tour the historic 1750 Daniels Farmhouse and surrounding property. Returning visitors may have noticed a few changes this season, including a new entrance into the farmhouse and several updates inside as staff continue arranging period furnishings, family heirlooms, and historical décor to better reflect the home’s rich history.
From live music and historical demonstrations to local shopping, great food, and family activities, the Freedom Festival yet again offered something for everyone while celebrating both American history and the importance of community.
If Sunday’s turnout was any indication, the weekly Daniels Farmstead Farmers Market is off to a fantastic start. With local vendors, fresh produce, handcrafted goods, tours of the historic property, and a welcoming small-town atmosphere every Sunday, the farmstead continues to be one of the area’s favorite summertime destinations.
For anyone who missed this year’s Freedom Festival, there are still plenty of opportunities to visit. The Daniels Farmstead Farmers Market is held every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with additional seasonal events planned throughout the summer and fall.
