Blackstone Police: BMR High School Threat Not Credible After Investigation

Blackstone Police Determine School Threat Not Credible
The Blackstone Police Department has confirmed that a potential school threat at Blackstone-Millville Regional High School was not credible following a prompt investigation Thursday morning, Oct. 16.
Graffiti Prompted Police Response
School staff contacted Blackstone Police after discovering graffiti that contained a non-specific threat directed toward the school. Officers responded immediately, working alongside school officials to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Following a thorough review and investigation, authorities determined there was no immediate danger to anyone in the building, and the school remained open throughout the day.
Blackstone Police Emphasize Student Safety
Chief Gregory Gilmore emphasized the department’s commitment to protecting students and staff, noting that all reports of threats are taken seriously — regardless of initial credibility.
“A thorough investigation ultimately determined there is no credible threat to the school community,” said Chief Gilmore. “We always take any report of this nature very seriously, and our Department worked closely with school officials to ensure students and staff were safe. The safety of our community’s youth remains our top priority, and situations like this are reminders to remain vigilant. To our students, if you see something strange or suspicious, say something to an adult immediately.”
Community Reassurance and Vigilance
While the Blackstone Police Department confirmed there was no credible threat, officials encourage the community to continue staying alert and proactive. Open communication between students, parents, teachers, and law enforcement remains key to maintaining school safety.
This incident serves as a reminder that safety starts with awareness — and that community members play an important role in keeping Blackstone’s schools safe and supportive environments for learning.
