Blackstone’s Tanya Polak Launches Code of Heart Romance Series

Tanya Polak’s Code of Heart Brings Love, Humor, and Representation
For years, Blackstone residents have known Tanya Polak as someone who shows up, speaks up, and stands up for what she believes in. From serving as a Selectwoman to championing projects like the accessible playground at Roosevelt Park, leading the Disability Commission, and being part of the Blackstone-Millville Regional School District SEPAC, Tanya has built a reputation for rolling up her sleeves and making things happen.
Now, she’s turning the page—literally—with the release of her debut romance novel, Code of Heart, coming August 15. Available for preorder now, the book is the first in a planned series that blends humor, heart, and important representation.
When Small Town Post caught up with Tanya, it was clear that this new chapter is deeply personal.
“I’ve always wanted to write a novel—it’s been on my bucket list for years,” she shared. “This time, I decided to do something for myself, and with the full support of my husband, I just went ahead and wrote the book.”
She explained that the idea for Code of Heart came during a train ride into New York City in late 2024. “It dawned on me that we really don’t have much disability representation in literature, especially in romance. That’s when the story came to life.”
A Story With Heart and Purpose
The Code of Heart series will be ongoing, with each book featuring a main character who has a form of neurodiversity or other disability—especially those less visible but deeply impactful. The aim is to educate while keeping the tone light and entertaining.
Tanya, who has been a strong advocate for inclusion in her community, says the book reflects her own humor, layered storytelling, and lived experiences. “Regardless of disability, the feeling of being misunderstood or underestimated is a common thread that ties so many of us together,” she said.
Local Roots in Every Page
Bits of Tanya’s personal life have found their way into the novel—from playful food debates with her husband to more serious reflections on communication struggles and misperceptions. Her hope is that readers will not only laugh and swoon over the romance, but also walk away with a greater understanding of the challenges many face daily.
What’s Next for Tanya Polak
Tanya self-published Code of Heart, a choice that gave her full creative control. Book two is already underway, with a planned October editing date, and she has at least five more books outlined in the series. She’s also developing two connected fantasy series and a paranormal fantasy trilogy.
