If you’ve ever considered a career in healthcare, Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School (BVT) is offering a hands-on opportunity to explore the Practical Nursing Program at BVT. According to a recent press release from BVT, the school will host an Open House on Wednesday, October 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., giving prospective students a chance to tour classrooms, speak with faculty, and learn about the path to becoming a practical nurse.
What to Expect at the Open House
The evening is designed to be welcoming and informative. Attendees can:
- Tour practical nursing classrooms at 65 Pleasant Street in Upton
- Observe state-of-the-art equipment used in the program
- Participate in a Q&A session with experienced faculty and staff
- Learn about program requirements, the admissions process, and enrollment
Why the Practical Nursing Program Matters for Our Community
The Practical Nursing Program at BVT prepares adult learners for personal and professional success while helping meet the growing demand for skilled nurses in the region. Joann L. Monks, MBA, MSc, RN-BC, RMA, the Practical Nursing Coordinator, shares, “It is a great time to enter the nursing field because there’s such a need for skilled nurses.”
With small class sizes and a flexible part-time, 60-week evening schedule, the program is designed for busy adults and accepts applicants from in-district, out-of-district, and out-of-state.
Requirements and Next Steps
All applicants must take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), which can be administered at BVT or other testing locations. The Open House is a perfect opportunity to get guidance on preparation and next steps toward enrollment.
This program offers a clear, achievable pathway to a rewarding healthcare career while supporting the local workforce.
