Freedom Festival Returns July 6—Plus Nearby Fireworks Shows

Get ready for a day of music, history, family fun, and hometown pride. The Second Annual Freedom Festival returns! Come by on Sunday, July 6, 2025, from 11 AM to 4 PM for an amazing time at Daniels Farmstead. Last year’s festival was such a hit that it’s back and officially becoming a new Blackstone tradition. It kicks off the start of the Farmers Market season in grand style.

This vibrant, family-friendly event is free to attend. Donations are kindly encouraged. Your donations support the continued preservation of the historic Daniels Farmstead. A true Blackstone treasure.
You’ll find entertainment and history throughout the day at the Freedom Festival. Enjoy live music from the Claflin Hill Symphony, lively fife and drum performances, and even a special appearance by Paul Revere. Historical interpreters and reenactments will bring the past to life in an interactive and engaging way.
Come hungry—there’ll be BBQ rib dinners by Doris’s Kitchen, summer picnic favorites from Galliford’s Restaurant and Tavern, and plenty of ice cream and refreshing treats to help you cool down under the summer sun.
The festival also marks the opening day of the Daniels Farmstead Farmers Market, featuring local vendors with handmade goods, produce, and crafts. And don’t miss the guided tours of the historic farmhouse and cider mill.
With help from Blackstone Parks & Recreation, there will be activities designed for kids and families to enjoy together all day long.
Please Note: There will be no fireworks at the Freedom Festival.
But don’t worry—if fireworks are your thing, several nearby towns have them. They will light up the sky throughout the holiday weekend.

Fireworks Safety & Pet Tips
Reminder: It’s Illegal to Use Fireworks in Massachusetts.
Massachusetts law prohibits the possession, use, and sale of fireworks without a permit and certification. This include sparklers and other consumer fireworks—even if purchased legally in another state.
And the risks are real.
- In the past five years, more than 550 fires and explosions in Massachusetts have been linked to illegal fireworks.
- These incidents injured six firefighters and caused nearly $1 million in damages.
- From 2019 to 2023, over 200 people were treated for burns and other fireworks-related injuries.
- Two dozen victims suffered severe burns covering more than 5% of their bodies.
Leave fireworks to the professionals. Enjoy one of the many permitted displays happening nearby this holiday weekend.
Keep Pets Safe and Calm
Fireworks can be overwhelming or even dangerous for pets—especially dogs. Help keep them safe and comfortable with a few simple steps:
- Keep them indoors with familiar sounds like TV, fans, or music
- Avoid letting them outside during fireworks displays
- Ensure collars and ID tags are secure, and microchips are up to date
