Burgers, Sundaes & Summer Fun at Divine Mercy Parish Picnic

Divine Mercy Parish Hosts Family Fun Day
The lawn outside Divine Mercy Parish came alive today as parishioners, families, Scouts, and community members gathered for the 4th Annual Family Fun Day —a parish-hosted celebration open to everyone, not just members of the church.
Co-hosted by Divine Mercy Parish and Cub Scouts Pack 3144, the event began after the 10:30am Mass and runs until 3:00pm, welcoming guests of all ages for an afternoon filled with food, games, and local camaraderie.
Kids enjoyed a festive mix of hands-on fun throughout the day, including a bounce house, basketball shooting games, and other outdoor activities. With something for every age, it was the kind of event where families could relax, play, and spend quality time together.
Over at the dessert table, guests were treated to a generous spread of cookies, brownies, and cakes, thanks to the Bakers Ministry and other parish volunteers. The Coffee and Fellowship Ministry kept everyone refreshed with beverages from the food tent.
For the main meal, burgers, hot dogs, and chips were grilled by the Knights of Columbus – St. André Bessette Council, and paired with salads and watermelon for a classic cookout feel.
A highlight of the day? The ice cream social hosted by Blackstone Parks and Recreation, where scoops were served in colorful mini baseball helmets—a fun promotion for their upcoming outdoor movie night in August featuring The Sandlot.
As kids played and families mingled, live music from The Good Living Band—brought to the event by Fr. John—set the mood. The partly cloudy sky kept things cool, with just enough sun and no rain in sight.

Best of all? It’s completely free to attend—a generous and joyful annual tradition that brings people together year after year.
There’s still time to join in! The event runs until 3:00pm and is held on the parish grounds at Divine Mercy Parish in Blackstone. Whether you attend Mass here or not, all are welcome.
It’s a heartfelt reminder of the role faith, service, and community can play in bringing people together.
