Millville Memorial Day Ceremony 2025 Honors Local Heroes

Millville Gathers to Honor the Fallen
On Monday, May 26, 2025, the Millville Memorial Day Ceremony 2025 brought together residents, veterans, and local officials in solemn remembrance of those who gave their lives in service to the United States.
A Community Gathers to Remember
Held at 11:45 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, the ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by service members throughout American history. Residents gathered alongside veterans, first responders, and civic leaders to pay tribute to those who died defending our country.
State Representative Mike Soter was in attendance, standing in solidarity with the community. Members of Millville American Legion Post 411 also participated in the observance, continuing their longstanding tradition of honoring fellow veterans.
Millville Selectwoman Rachel Anderson read a formal Memorial Day proclamation, offering words of reflection and gratitude. A ceremonial gun salute marked the solemnity of the occasion. The presence of the community and the spirit of remembrance were unmistakable.

Veterans Memorial Park: A Place of Tribute
Veterans Memorial Park has long served as the heart of Millville’s commemorative traditions. Since its completion on November 12, 1946, the park has hosted countless social, cultural, and patriotic events. Its first major gathering took place on July 16, 1947, with the dedication of the original Millville Honor Roll — a display listing the names of all local men and women who served in World War II.
Preserving History and Honoring All Who Served
Over the decades, exposure to the elements took a toll on the original structure. A replacement Honor Roll was installed but included only the names of those who had “Died in Service to their Country.” The omission of many who served led to the eventual removal of the second display from the park grounds.
Thanks to the efforts of the Millville Historical Commission, the original panels were faithfully replicated and now reside in the Veterans Room at the Longfellow Municipal Center. There, visitors can view both the restored World War II Honor Roll and an additional panel recognizing those who served in World War I.
Commemorating the service and sacrifice of Millville’s soldiers, sailors, marines, and other service members remains a meaningful priority for the town. The Millville Memorial Day Ceremony 2025 continues this tradition — reminding us of the price of freedom and the importance of remembering those who paid it.
A Community’s Lasting Gratitude
Small Town Post extends heartfelt thanks to all who made the Millville Memorial Day Ceremony 2025 possible — from veterans and organizers to the citizens who showed up in support.
Millville continues to honor its heroes, not just on Memorial Day, but throughout the year — preserving stories, names, and legacies for generations to come.
