Now Hiring: Senior Center Director in Blackstone – A Chance to Make a Difference

Help Shape the Future of Senior Services in Blackstone
Senior Center Director Position Now Open – Apply Today
The Town of Blackstone is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to serve as its next Senior Center Director—a role that is not only administrative, but deeply impactful to the quality of life for our town’s older residents.
The position has been posted since April 24, and while applications have started to come in, the review process will begin soon. During the Council on Aging (COA) meeting held May 1, town leaders emphasized just how important it is to find the right fit—someone who not only meets the qualifications, but who can truly relate to and advocate for our seniors.
“Seniors are the ones that get hurt if we do not get a good director,” one senior member said. “There should be a representation or a side input from the seniors—what we feel comfortable with, that he or she relate to us.”
During the meeting it was noted that that the concern would be relayed to the town administrator, along with a reminder that hiring the best person for the job is critical. This is more than just a job opening—it’s a chance to lead with compassion and vision.
Why This Role Matters
The Senior Center Director will be responsible for implementing the mission and values of the Council on Aging, working with the seniors, overseeing daily operations, and managing vital programs including transportation, nutrition, and outreach.
This person will be the face of senior services in Blackstone—someone who listens, problem-solves, and brings innovative programming that meets the real-world needs of our aging population. From group activities that fight isolation, to wellness programs that promote health, to support services that ease the burdens of caregiving, this role touches lives in meaningful ways.
And our seniors deserve no less.
A Turning Point for Blackstone’s Senior Services
During the May 1 meeting, there was open reflection about the challenges with past leadership. While the previous director was described as kind, issues remained unresolved—many of which had been ongoing for years. Discussion during the meeting reflected a desire to move forward with new leadership who can address longstanding issues and better meet the needs of Blackstone’s senior community.
Now is the moment to ensure our seniors are represented and respected in the selection process. Hiring someone who understands their needs—and who they feel connected to—can redefine the role and its impact.
