Tuning Into Something Local: Raydio Brings Community Vibes to the Airwaves

Something new is streaming through the heart of Blackstone, Millville, and the surrounding towns—and it’s not just music. It’s Raydio, a 24/7 internet radio station that’s serving up a joyful mix of upbeat tunes, local insights, and all-around good energy. If you’ve heard the buzz, you’re not alone. And if you haven’t tuned in yet, now’s the time.

From the Booth to the Backyards

Raydio is the creation of Ray Auger, a familiar voice with over three decades in local radio, including 15 years at Milford’s MyFM 101.3. After decades spent building connections through broadcasting, live music, community boards, and neighborhood fundraisers, Ray had a moment of reflection.

I felt there was more I could do on my own,” he told us. Inspired by a similar project out on Cape Cod, he launched Raydio in December 2024. His goal? To keep the radio spirit alive in a way that’s current, accessible, and deeply local.

More Than Just Music

Raydio isn’t just a playlist. Yes, there’s great music all day long (and let’s be honest, it is really good), but there’s also “Ray in the Morning” with local guests, weather and sports updates, shout-outs, and fun segments like “Hot Happenings” and “Virtual High Fives.” Weekly features like The Rock Vault, The Local Vibe, and Yacht Rock Sundays round out the listening experience.

And the response? “Fantastic,” Ray says. With over 1,300 Facebook followers and more than 500 daily listeners (mostly women between ages 35–64), Raydio is building a strong, loyal base of community-minded listeners.

Real People, Real Places

Raydio’s secret sauce isn’t just the music or even the production—it’s the way it’s embedded in the community. From broadcasting live at the Boston Marathon starting line in Hopkinton, to surprise giveaways at local comic shops, to “Fuel Up Fridays” delivering coffee and muffins to area workplaces, Raydio is everywhere.

And Ray doesn’t just show up—he shows up. He’s hosted an ‘80s prom night, delivered Valentine’s baskets from local shops, and co-judged an apple crisp bake-off (which honestly might be the most New England thing ever). This summer, you’ll catch Raydio at events like Milford Youth Baseball Day, the Pride of Medway festival, and even their own “Local Vibe Awards.”

Is Internet Radio Dead? Not Here.

We asked the obvious: some people say internet radio is fading. Ray doesn’t buy it.

With Alexa, apps, and smartphones in every pocket, we’re more connected than ever,” he says. “The key is being local. That’s what makes it stick.

Even though the station can be heard worldwide, Ray’s focus is squarely on the 16 communities surrounding Milford. “Give me an hour,” he says. “I think you’ll be hooked.
