Divine Mercy Parish Launches Little Lambs Playgroup for Young Families

Little Lambs Playgroup at Divine Mercy Parish Offers Faith-Filled Fun for Families This Fall

If you’ve been looking for a space where your child can play, learn, and grow in faith — and where you can meet other families doing the same — Divine Mercy Parish is opening the doors to just that this fall.

Launching in September, the Little Lambs playgroup at Divine Mercy Parish is a free, weekly gathering for children ages 0 to 5 and their caregivers. It’s a place for little ones to explore and connect — and for parents, grandparents, and guardians to do the same.

The playgroup meets Thursday mornings from 10:00 to 11:30 AM in the Parish Center, with a target start date of September 25. Registration is now open, and space is limited.

What to Expect at Little Lambs Playgroup

Each week, families gather for a morning of free play, crafts, storytime, songs, snacks, and prayer — all thoughtfully designed for early childhood development and grounded in the Catholic faith.

But what sets Little Lambs playgroup at Divine Mercy Parish apart is its hands-on, shared approach. This isn’t a drop-off program — adults stay and join in the fun. That makes each session an opportunity not only for children to learn and socialize, but for grown-ups to build friendships, too.

A Place to Slow Down and Connect

In a world that moves fast, Little Lambs encourages families to pause — to sing a song with their toddler, to sit on the floor with a storybook, to enjoy a morning together with purpose and joy.

The experience is playful and welcoming, yet deeply meaningful. It’s about forming bonds between children and caregivers — and among parish families walking similar paths.

A New Parish with a Long-Standing Home

Although the church building on St. Paul Street has stood for more than a century, Divine Mercy Parish itself was established just three years ago, uniting several local parishes into one faith community. From the start, the parish has focused on creating opportunities for all ages to grow in faith outside of Mass — and Little Lambs is one of the first programs built with young families in mind.

The program is open to both parishioners and families in the wider Blackstone-Millville area who are looking for a faith-based playgroup with heart.

Looking Ahead: More Programs for Young Families.

Divine Mercy Parish is also preparing to launch another program called Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. This Montessori-based religious education program for children ages 3 to 6 will deepen faith formation and follow the parish’s religious education calendar. According to Toni Harvey, Pastoral Associate, the parish hopes to roll this program out before the end of the year.

A Gentle Beginning, A Lifelong Foundation

For many families, Little Lambs playgroup at Divine Mercy Parish may be a first step into faith formation outside of Sunday Mass. It’s a small beginning — a shared song, a quiet prayer, a craft made with love — but it plants seeds that can grow into something lasting: friendship, belonging, and faith that moves with your family through the years.

Though Divine Mercy Parish is newly formed, its home at St. Paul Church has been a familiar part of Blackstone for generations. Our town has a long, proud tradition of faith and community — and while Divine Mercy is just one of the many churches that serve our neighbors, this program is a new way to carry that tradition forward, one morning at a time.

So if you’re looking for something gentle and joyful — a place to be present with your child, to meet others, to feel rooted — know that this is here, too.

Right in the heart of our little town.
