BMR and BVT Receive Life Sciences Education Grant

The future of science and technology in our community just got brighter. The Healey-Driscoll Administration and the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) have awarded a life sciences education grant in Blackstone Valley to two of our local schools — the Blackstone-Millville Regional School District and Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School (BVT).

Investing in Local Students

Through the statewide $12.7 million investment supporting life sciences education and workforce development,

  • Blackstone-Millville Regional School District received $39,708, and
  • Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School received $41,552.

These grants will help purchase new lab equipment, fund teacher training, and build classroom programs that introduce students to hands-on science and biotechnology learning experiences.

What the Life Sciences Education Grant Means Locally

The life sciences education grant in Blackstone Valley is more than just new equipment — it’s an investment in opportunity. Students in both Blackstone and Millville will have access to modern, real-world science learning that prepares them for growing career fields across Massachusetts.

At BVT, the funding strengthens programs already focused on career and technical education, adding a stronger life sciences component that aligns with statewide job growth in biotech and healthcare.
At BMRSD, the grant enhances STEM curriculum, giving younger students an early connection to science and technology careers.

Building a Stronger Future Together

With these life sciences education grants, local schools are taking part in a statewide effort to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators. For the Blackstone Valley, it means our students can dream big — and find their path right here at home.

This initiative also connects to the Blackstone Valley Hub for Workforce Development in Whitinsville, which received $119,076 to expand training partnerships and strengthen regional career pipelines.

A Win for Our Community

The life sciences education grant in BMR and BVT shows how local and state leaders are working together to prepare students for tomorrow’s jobs while supporting schools today. From new lab tools to teacher development, this investment reflects confidence in our region’s potential — and in the young minds who will shape its future.
