Blackstone’s Bike Challenge: Ride, Win, and Celebrate!

Pedal into Summer Fun: Join the 2025 Bike Around Blackstone Challenge

This summer, the Blackstone Parks and Recreation, in collaboration with the Blackstone Police Department, is inviting residents of all ages to ride, explore, and enjoy the town with the Bike Around Blackstone Challenge—a fun and free way to stay active from July 20 to August 23, 2025.

Whether you’re pedaling through your neighborhood or riding the Blackstone River Greenway, this challenge is all about getting outside and moving your body. The Blackstone River Bikeway/Greenway is also an accessible trail, making this challenge welcoming to riders of all ages and abilities. Blackstone is quickly becoming known as a great outdoor adventure town—friendly, inclusive, and accessible. The Bike Around Blackstone Challenge reflects that spirit, offering opportunities for everyone to get involved, come together for fun, fitness, and shared experiences in beautiful local spaces.

Blackstone Parks and Recreation announced the program officially on Facebook on July 1, 2025.

Safety First: Bike Rodeo & Kickoff Event

The challenge officially begins with a Bike Rodeo and Safety Refresher on Sunday, July 20 at 4:00 PM at Roosevelt Park. This kickoff isn’t just about fun—it’s also about safety.

At the event:

  • Kids and adults will get a refresher on hand signals, helmet safety, and proper riding practices.
  • The Blackstone Police Department will lead the safety session, which will include helmet fitting, hand signals, and general bike safety. Blackstone Parks and Recreation has also requested a segment on e-bike safety, especially geared toward younger riders.
  • Punch cards will be available for pickup during the event.

Can’t make the kickoff? No problem—punch cards will also be available at the Blackstone Police Station after the event and can be picked up anytime.

Free Helmets for Early Registrants

Safety is a top priority, and thanks to Parks and Recreation’s commitment to the community, free helmets will be provided to the first 15 registered participants who need one. If your child has outgrown their current helmet—or doesn’t have one at all—you can request one during signup (Please only request a helmet if needed).

During the June 30 Parks and Recreation meeting, a motion has been made to cover the cost of helmets (and punch card supplies) from the Parks and Recreation budget. But local support is always welcome—and there are lots of great ways to partner! If your business or family would like to donate or sponsor helmets, prizes, gift cards, coupons for ice cream, or even contribute toward prize costs, the committee is open to all ideas.

Wrap-Up Celebration

After a month of riding, the challenge ends with a Pizza Party for all participants on August 23 at 4:00 PM, again at Roosevelt Park. Come celebrate your accomplishment, connect with other riders, and enjoy a slice (or two)!

Programs like this remind us what’s special about living in a small town. They bring us together—not just to get active, but to support one another, share experiences, and build the kind of community we’re proud to call home.

Let’s keep that momentum going. Support these local programs, get involved, and help spread the word—because when we show up for each other, everyone wins.

At Small Town Post, we love shining a light on programs that bring neighbors together and promote active living in our town. If you know of a local event or initiative like the Bike Around Blackstone Challenge, let us know—we’re always looking to support and share what makes Blackstone great.
