Welcome to The Small Town Post — a community blog built on love, curiosity, and a big soft spot for Blackstone and the surrounding towns.

I started this blog not too long after moving to Blackstone. When I first googled the town, all I could find were negative headlines — and that didn’t sit right with me. Because once you’re here, you see it: the heart, the charm, the good people, the small businesses doing big things, the kids with big dreams, the neighbors who look out for one another.

I thought, someone should be bragging about this place — and so, I did.

This blog began as a way to share the amazing things happening in our little corner of the world. Whether it’s a student winning an award, a small business doing something cool, or simply sharing useful information — I just wanted to give people a place to feel connected.

And honestly, it came from a real need. So many times I’d see people on social media asking questions — about events, voting, where to go for something — and there just wasn’t one place to find it all. The town website is doing better now, and that’s great, but some things just don’t belong in a formal setting. We needed something more casual, more community-driven. A place where all things Blackstone could live online. I also started Small Town Post because I realized that while many community updates are shared on Facebook, not everyone uses social media — and some have left it altogether. I wanted to create a simple, accessible space where anyone can catch up on what’s happening around town, no account required.

But for a while, I stopped. Even though this site is mostly anonymous (only a handful of people know who I am), I found myself caught in the crossfire of small-town drama. I don’t have deep roots here, I’m not what you’d call a “townie,” and I don’t have many local friends. I was just trying to share something good, for free, with no agenda — and yet, I felt attacked. Keyboard warriors got loud, and I got quiet.

But I’ve come back — because I believe things can be better. Because I still think good stories deserve to be told. Because I still believe in this town and the people in it. Because information matters. And because sometimes, all it takes is one reminder that it’s not all bad.

So here we are. The Small Town Post is back.

If you’ve got something wonderful to share — a kid winning at sports or music, a neighbor doing something great, a person or issue that deserves more attention — send it over. Even if there’s something incorrect posted here — let me know. We all make mistakes, but we can fix them. You can email me at editor@smalltownpost.com.

I’m also open to opinion pieces, letters to the editor, or even sponsorships and ad space if that’s your thing. Just one small request: if you’re writing an opinion, please sign your name. I know — it might seem a little weird that this blog is mostly anonymous, and I get that. But I also think there’s a difference between sharing information and opinions. I try not to insert personal bias into anything — just shine a light on what’s happening and what’s great about our little town. When it comes to opinions though — that’s where I draw the line. If you want to submit an opinion piece or a letter to the editor, it’s only fair that it comes with your name. Otherwise, it’s just gossip. An anonymous blog sharing facts is one thing; anonymous opinions are a whole different vibe. So no hypocrisy here — just trying to keep things honest and balanced.

Thanks for being here. Thanks for reading. Let’s keep finding the good stuff — together.
