Dear voters of Blackstone and Millville: I am running for re-election to the BMRSD School Committee.
Since 2017, I have worked tirelessly to improve education for all students in our communities. I have served on several important subcommittees including the Return and Recovery group, contract negotiating team, multiple hiring committees, and the Regional Agreement Amendment Committee (RAAC). As the chair of the RAAC, I led the process for updating the governing document of BMRSD, allowing for more equitable and efficient use of district resources.
I have collaborated with my colleagues on the committee and administration to meet the challenge of educating kids during this pandemic. We have developed a budget for next year that provides for math/reading interventionists and instructional coaches to help our teachers and staff address the gaps in learning that have occurred over the past year, and I will continue advocate for the resources our district needs in order to prepare our students for life beyond graduation.
Our communities also need a plan to deal with our aging school facilities. As a current member of the facilities subcommittee, I am eager to begin working with administration and representatives from both towns to bring our buildings up to date and address excess capacity issues.
There is much work to be done in coming years, and I look forward to the challenge. If you would be willing to put out a yard sign, send me a message and I will put one out for you. Signs can go up Feb 4th in Millville and March 8th in Blackstone. Thanks, and be sure to vote April 5th!
