If you’re like me, you’re already stressing out about Thanksgiving. Where will you get a Turkey? Are you cooking everything or buying some of the food? What’s for dessert? Do I have enough decorations?
If you’re planning a Thanksgiving meal with your family and friends, Blackstone’s local businesses got you covered. We put together a list so you can start planning and ordering as early as today.
The Turkey: Goodstuff Smokehouse
They’re our favorite local BBQ joint and they make an AMAZING Turkey too. We recommend Goodstuff Smokehouse for an amazing smoked Turkey!
Choose between a whole bird or just a breast!
Appetizers: Casa Burrito
It might be a little different but everybody loves nachos. Crispy nachos served with ground beef, beans, cheese, jalapenos, and oh that good ‘ol salsa… the nachos will be gone in no time.
Call Casa Burrito at 508-928-0904
Dessert and Baked goods: Betty’s Donuts
Betty’s Donuts has a lot of baked goodies to choose from, not just Donuts! If you’re like us though, you’ll definitely get some pastries AND donuts at the same time.
Drop by Betty’s Donuts to check what they have! Maybe you can order ahead too.
Drinks: Crave Mead
You gotta have some nice drinks right? I’ve been seeing Crave Mead in stores and in markets but I didn’t realize till a few weeks ago that they’re right in Blackstone!
Crave Mead has a variety of flavors depending on the season. We recommend one of their specialties: Creme Brulee Mead.
You can buy Crave Mead at Thrift Discount Liquors on Main St. So that’s two local businesses to support!
If you want your home to be a bit more cozy, come by these Blackstone stores for some flowers, decor and trinkets!
Valley & Vines Floral Designs
Valley & Vines make amazing centerpieces. Their flower arrangements make you want to order again and again.
Order a centerpiece for your home or maybe send one to a friend you’re thankful for.
The Tole Booth
The Tole Booth store is brimming with all your home needs. Everytime I go, I end up buying stuff not just for me but for my family and friends as well. Every item is delicately selected and taking them home with you makes it feel very unique.
Get some nice earrings to complete your look. Thrift It has a lot of clothes, shoes, and accessories that you’ll love. Come for Thanksgiving ideas and we assure you that you’ll end up taking home a lot more than you originally planned because of the amazing value you get. The shopping trip is worth it!
We can’t say this enough – support local businesses in Blackstone!
Want to give back?
If you’re feeling grateful for the year thus far and want to give back, we recommend the fundraising efforts of these Blackstone residents and local groups:
Craft Kits for Seniors a project to get Senior Citizens and/or people dealing with health issues craft kits to give them something to do to help them get through this pandemic. Donate or offer to buy craft-related items from an Amazon wish list.
The Blackstone Police Department is participating again this year in Contribute to the Blackstone Police Officer’s Home Base project. Home Base is a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program that helps Veterans and their families heal from invisible wounds, such as PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury.
Make a pledge to support a Blackstone family for the holiday season. The annual Giving Tree will be available on the week of November 23 at the Town Hall, Dean Bank, Unibank, and St. Paul’s Church. Pledge tags will be available when the trees are up.
Thrift It also has a Giving Tree project, drop by to get an envelop to pledge your support.
Despite things being different this year, we are excited for Thanksgiving. Tell us what’s your plans in town?
