Blackstone Senior Center gets a new van

Saw some good news posted today by the Blackstone Senior Center.

Back in September of 2019, the Council on Aging was notified that we had been competitively selected to receive a State Fiscal Year 2020 Community Transit Grant for a new Van in the amount of $51,570. At the time, the delivery of these awarded vehicles was slated for May 2020. In March of 2020 we all know the world took an abrupt halt and so did production of all vehicles from the factory. We were unsure of what this might mean for our grant. The status remained unknown for the next couple of months. In June we were notified that production had resumed and the Van was back on the production line. On Tuesday September 15, 2020 our new Van arrived at the Senior Center! A Great big thanks to the DOT, Governor Baker and Lt. Governor Polito. Through this funding we can ensure that we continue to provide meaningful transportation options to the residents of Blackstone.
